ART OF SKATING - SPRING
As the season comes to a close, the focus of training shifts to learning new skills and building the base for next season. Proper skating mechanics are a vital component of speed in hockey. We have formulated a Skating Program to prepare players for speed and efficiency at the next level. New this year the program will consist of on-ice and off-ice instruction to ensure athletes build the strength, stamina, and body awareness needed to make meaningful change in their stride.
We are doing this early so that players are aware of what changes to make going into spring and summer training. Quality repetitions at this time of year set the tone for muscle memory moving forward.
The Program will focus on a few key areas:
Proper skating mechanics and alignment
Effective edge work and core control
Skating for speed and agility
Developing power and improving efficiency
